Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.</span></p> <p><span> </span></p> <p><span>We have a great opportunity for a Street Lighting Electrician to work on a street lighting contract, specialising in the maintenance, installation, and repair of street lighting across various locations in the North East. The ideal candidate will ensure that street lighting operates efficiently and safely, contributing to public safety and energy efficiency. This role involves routine inspections, emergency repairs, being on the on-call rota covering call-outs for the R&C street lighting contract as well as Area 14, which spans from Berwick-upon-Tweed down to the North Yorkshire borders.</span></p> <p><span> </span></p> <p><strong><span>Key activities</span></strong></p> <p><span> </span></p> <ul> <li><span>Install, maintain, and repair street lighting, including wiring, fixtures, and feeder pillars etc. .</span></li> <li><span>Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in street lighting</span></li> <li><span>AM2 qualification, as well as 2391, since the person who fills this role will need to be our NICEIC Supervisor.</span></li> <li><span>Schedule inspections and test and inspect to BS7671.</span></li> <li><span>Operate mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) to access lighting equipment at heights.</span></li> <li><span>Respond to emergency lighting issues, restoring service promptly to minimize disruption.</span></li> <li><span>Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including materials used.</span></li> <li><span>Test and inspect electrical systems in compliance with BS 7671 and perform tasks like SWA jointing and installing cutouts etc.</span></li> <li><span>Participate in emergency call-out rota, (night work) for Redcar & Clevland and the Aria 14 network .</span></li> <li><span>Complete necessary documentation on electronic devices or paperwork, such as job sheets.</span></li> <li><span>If applicable Install traffic management (Chapter 8), including signage and guarding</span></li> <li><span>Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation.</span></li> <li><span>Protect the safety of the workforce, the public, and vehicles by ensuring that all works are properly secured and managed.</span></li> </ul> <p><span> </span></p> <p><strong><span>Skills, qualifications & experience</span></strong></p> <p><span> </span></p> <ul> <li><span>Fully qualified electrician, holding an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent qualification.</span></li> <li><span>18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification (BS 7671).</span></li> <li><span>Previous experience in street lighting, or similar work.</span></li> <li><span>City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent testing and inspection qualification.</span></li> <li><span>Strong understanding of UK electrical standards, particularly related to public infrastructure.</span></li> <li><span>Full, clean UK driving license, with a preference for candidates holding a category C1 license.</span></li> <li><span>Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently</span></li> </ul> <p><span> </span></p> <p><strong><span>We offer an excellent benefits package including:</span></strong></p> <p><span> </span></p> <ul> <li><span>24 days leave</span></li> <li><span>Van</span></li> <li><span>Aviva Private GP consultations</span></li> <li><span>Westfield Health cash plan</span></li> <li><span>Gym membership discount</span></li> <li><span>Pension</span></li> <li><span>Company share scheme</span></li> <li><span>Cycle to work scheme</span></li> </ul> <p><span> </span></p> <p><strong><span>Who are we?</span></strong></p> <p><span> </span></p> <p><span>EQUANS</span><span> </span><span>is a world leader in energy services with nearly 100,000 employees working in more than 50 countries, with an annual turnover of over 17 billion euros. </span><span> </span></p> <p><span> </span></p> <p><span>In the UK & Ireland, EQUANS is a provider of technical, FM, regeneration and energy services – with specialist capabilities in smart buildings, green mobility, district & embedded energy and decentralised renewables.</span></p> <p><span> </span></p> <p><span>EQUANS’ 13,500 UK & Ireland employees combine these activities to help businesses, public sector organisations and government to embrace the energy transition towards net zero, and also the digital & industrial transitions that are redesigning the way we move, work and live.</span></p> <p><span> </span></p> <p><span>EQUANS is a Bouygues group company.</span></p> <p><span> </span></p> <p><strong><span>What’s next?</span></strong></p> <p><span> </span></p> <p><span>If this role is of interest to you, please click below to register, apply, and track your progress!
