moira" is delighted to be supporting a leading global manufacturer in the recruitment of a number of Quality Engineer / Quality Technician positions based at their site in Hawick.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy problem-solving, identifying and resolving issues, improving processes, and working closely with production teams to ensure products are manufactured to the highest standards.
Whilst previous experience within a dedicated Quality role would be beneficial, we are also keen to hear from candidates with a strong manufacturing background and a quality-focused mindset.
Candidates from manufacturing, production, process engineering, extrusion, injection moulding, tooling, continuous improvement, and quality environments are encouraged to apply.
The Role
Working as part of the Quality team, you will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations, maintaining quality standards, investigating issues, and driving continuous improvement activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting manufacturing teams to maintain product quality and process standards.
- Investigating quality issues and identifying root causes.
- Supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conducting inspections and testing of materials, processes, and finished products.
- Identifying and managing non-conforming products.
- Working closely with Production, Engineering, and other departments to resolve issues and improve performance.
- Supporting internal and external audits.
- Assisting with calibration activities and maintaining quality records.
- Helping to reduce waste, scrap, and rework through effective quality controls.
- Ensuring quality plans, procedures, and standards are adhered to.

To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Experience identifying and resolving production or quality-related issues.
- A proactive and positive approach.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to follow processes, procedures, and quality standards.
- Strong IT skills.
Experience of ISO 9001, audits, root cause analysis, CAPA, NCR management, calibration, or continuous improvement activities would be advantageous but is not essential.
Shift Pattern
This position operates on a continental 12-hour rotating shift pattern:
- 3 x 06:00 – 18:00 day shifts
- Followed by 3 x 18:00 – 06:00 night shifts
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £35,500 per annum including shift allowance.
- Basic salary of £28,195.44 plus a 26% shift allowance.
