Full Time Veterinary Receptionist
We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our inclusive team here at Optivet Referrals.
Optivet is an independent practice providing first line 24/7 emergency care with expert emergency clinicians as well as providing a specialist referral service in Ophthalmology, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Anaesthesia.

About the role
We are looking for a full time receptionist to work during the week. As we are a 24/7 Hospital - we are open 24/7, bank holiday duties will therefore be shared out fairly.
FULL TIME - Monday to Friday working from 7:30 - until 21:00 on a rota basis (of early shifts and lates)
The role consists of the following:
- Welcoming clients to the practice and ensuring they are looked after immediately.
- Answering the phone, responding clearly to requests, booking client appointments using the system and sending out relevant information or directing them to the Optivet website where appropriate.
- Handling emergencies (flow chart), liaising with vets to ensure the right course of action is taken.
- Providing information for direct claims including disclaimers where required. Ensure you gather history to complete policy checks.
- Taking client payments.
- Completing admin tasks to support the service.
- Maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, referring vets and the public.
About you
To succeed in this role, you must be dynamic, well organised with exceptional attention to detail. You must be able to show empathy and work in a fast-paced environment, whilst remaining calm and demonstrating exemplary team-working skills.
Above all, you must be passionate about providing a high standard and quality of care to our patients and clients.
In addition:
- Proven strong and effective verbal communication techniques both on the telephone and face to-face.
- Demonstrates a professional level of English language when sending out written communication.
- Understand the ethical requirements of a referral veterinary practice.
- Strong computer skills.
- Experience as a receptionist is preferable.
