SPC Fire Protective Coatings are looking for an experienced intumescent painter / fire coating applicator for an upcoming project in Brighton as well as on-going long term work for the right candidate.
The work involves preparation and application of intumescent coating to exposed structural steelwork on a high-level apartment block. The applicator must be confident with surface preparation, wet film thickness checks, dry film thickness requirements and working to manufacturer coating specifications.

- Location: Brighton
- Start: Next Week
- Duration: Approx. 2 weeks initially
- Work: Preparation and application of intumescent coating to steelwork
- CIS / self-employed basis preferred
- Further work may be available for the right person
Requirements:
- Previous experience applying intumescent coatings to structural steelwork
- Good understanding of steel preparation, including cleaning, abrasion and making the surface suitable for coating
- Ability to follow manufacturer’s specification and coating system requirements
- Experience checking and recording WFTs during application
- Understanding of DFT requirements and the importance of achieving specified film builds
- Knowledge of intumescent coating systems, primers and compatible topcoats
- Able to work neatly and safely on scaffolded sites
- Reliable, tidy and able to communicate progress/issues clearly
- Own basic tools and PPE
- CSCS preferred
- IPAF/PASMA useful but not essential
