Main Duties:
- Provide strategic leadership for the Company’s QHSE, Quality and Compliance function, ensuring it supports business objectives and protects the Company, its people and its reputation.
- Overall accountability for the design, implementation and continual improvement of the Group QHSE Management System, including governance, assurance and document control.
- Overall responsibility for the Company’s Quality and Compliance performance, including maintaining relevant accreditations and ensuring effective internal control and assurance processes.
- Ensure the Company is compliant with applicable QHSE legislation and requirements in the UK and internationally, and maintain oversight of changes to legislation, client standards and regulatory expectations.
- Line manage and develop the Group Health and Safety Manager, setting priorities and ensuring effective operational delivery and site assurance across the business.
- Provide governance and functional direction to QHSE Managers and site-based QHSE roles (dotted reporting), ensuring consistent standards, competent advice and timely support to operations and projects.
- Lead Board-level QHSE, Quality and Compliance reporting, including performance metrics, trends, audit results, risks, and improvement plans.
- Define and maintain the Company’s assurance programme (audits, inspections, leadership tours, compliance checks) and ensure findings are prioritised, actioned and closed out effectively.
- Oversee incident governance, including classification, investigation standards, statutory and client reporting, root cause analysis and verification of corrective and preventive actions; ensure proportionate escalation to senior leadership.
- QHSE Lead on all serious / major incidents.
- Ensure robust emergency preparedness and business contingency arrangements are in place, tested and reviewed, with debriefs and lessons learned embedded across the business.
- Support tendering and client governance requirements by providing QHSE, Quality and Compliance input, evidence, and continuous improvement narratives where required.
- Provide senior support for urgent QHSE matters, including out of hours escalation and site visits, where necessary.
- Undertake designated project work as required by the Board on behalf of the Company.

Qualifications and experience required for this role:
- Proven senior QHSE, Quality or Compliance leadership experience within a high risk operational environment (onshore drilling, construction, energy, industrial, utilities or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legal framework and experience managing compliance requirements across multiple projects, clients and locations.
- Competence in management system leadership, audit and assurance, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (or equivalent).
- Qualification(s) to include a relevant HSE or Quality degree or equivalent experience, plus a recognised HSE qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent) and an auditing qualification.
- Desirable: Chartered membership of IOSH and/or relevant Quality professional membership.
- Evidence of skills demonstrating leadership, prioritisation, delegation and development of staff at this level, including line management of senior team members.
- Strong communication skills including written, verbal and board level reporting/presentation.
- Experience of training facilitation and competence management.
