Join a thriving family-run free-range egg business
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Poultry Manager to join our growing free-range egg business based at Frilford, near Abingdon.
This is a varied and rewarding role offering the opportunity to become a key part of a respected family-run business with bird welfare at its heart. Based primarily at our Frilford site, you will also work closely with our wider team near Stow-on-the-Wold, supporting the management of our free-range laying flocks and helping maintain the high standards that our customers have come to expect.
Our eggs are supplied to pubs, restaurants, hotels, farm shops and delis across the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, London and beyond. We are passionate about producing high-quality free-range eggs, maintaining excellent welfare standards and continually improving the way we operate.
This is a hands-on position, but we are looking for someone who can take responsibility, use their initiative and become a trusted part of the management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail and be someone who notices things — whether that’s a change in bird behaviour, an issue within the poultry house, or an opportunity to improve the way we work.
Working alongside an experienced poultry assistant at Frilford and supporting the wider team in Stow-on-the-Wold, this role offers genuine variety and the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility within a progressive and growing agricultural business.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily flock management and welfare monitoring
- Identifying potential health, welfare or management issues and reporting them promptly
- Monitoring flock performance and environmental conditions within the poultry houses
- Carrying out salmonella testing and supporting flock health programmes
- Supporting and maintaining Laid In Britain accreditation standards and wider farm assurance requirements
- Managing drinking water systems and routine poultry house checks
- Egg collection and quality monitoring
- Delivering eggs to local customers approximately three days per week
- Supporting the operation of our on-site honesty farm shop, including stock management and replenishment
- Maintaining accurate farm records and compliance documentation
- Assisting with general site upkeep and presentation
- Working closely with colleagues across both poultry sites to maintain consistently high standards
