Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Pipe Layer / Groundworker to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying pipes and preparing groundworks in accordance with project specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of excavation, pipe installation, and ground preparation, with the ability to operate various tools and machinery safely and efficiently. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic construction environment.

Responsibilities

Excavate trenches and prepare ground surfaces for pipe installation using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as excavators
Lay pipes accurately according to engineering plans and specifications
Connect, weld, and secure pipes as required, ensuring proper alignment and sealing
Operate mechanical equipment including excavators and other heavy machinery safely
Use hand tools and power tools for cutting, shaping, and fitting pipes and ground materials
Conduct basic maintenance checks on tools and machinery to ensure operational safety
Assist with the installation of electrical components related to pipe systems where applicable
Follow health and safety regulations at all times to maintain a safe working environment
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects

Requirements

Proven experience in pipe laying or groundworks within the construction industry
Mechanical knowledge with experience operating excavators or similar machinery preferred
Welding skills are desirable but not essential; training can be provided for suitable candidates
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for construction tasks
Basic electrical experience or understanding is advantageous
Strong safety awareness with the ability to follow safety protocols diligently
Good physical fitness, capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions
Relevant certifications or licences (e.g., CSCS card) are preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided for the right candidate
