Overview
As Student Experience Manager, you will oversee and manage staff to deliver a high quality, inclusive and accessible learning experience for all students. You will support students, actively seeking out and responding to ‘the student voice’ (via student-staff committees, NSS, TellUs) to enhance the student journey from induction to graduation.
Working collaboratively with the School Director of Education and School Manager, you will support the delivery of strategic objectives. You will improve the experience for students within the School, leading on relevant external compliance requirements and driving forward student voice initiatives. You will work collaboratively with the Education Manager to allocate responsibilities in a fair and equitable manner and oversee the work of team members to ensure a joined up approach for students and staff.
The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of student related issues. An experienced line manager, they will be a strong leader of people and will be able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the institution to ensure student experience activities are delivered effectively and efficiently in line with University policies.
Main duties and responsibilities
Working closely with the School Director of Education and School Manager to support the delivery of the School’s strategic Action Plan in relation to Student Experience.
Leadership of the Student Experience Professional Service function, including line management of staff within the Education and Student Experience team as appropriate, taking an overview of activities and ensuring cover in absence.
Oversight and management of all School student voice activities and related processes, including:
developing and delivering the School’s student voice strategy;
management of NSS, TellUS and other evaluation mechanisms, reviewing and interpreting data and feedback to develop and implement appropriate actions and ongoing monitoring, and ensuring the closure of the feedback loop;
oversight of the School’s Student-Staff Committee and the engagement of student representatives.
Ensure the School complies with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements whilst supporting students to successfully complete their studies. Act as the Safeguarding and Prevent School Contact; ensuring that the University’s arrangements for keeping children and young people safe are implemented at a school level.
Oversee the delivery of all School student attendance requirements, to ensure the School complies with all statutory requirements whilst supporting students to successfully complete their studies, in line with the University Student Attendance Monitoring policy.
Management of academic complaints and appeals and student complaints.
Support student engagement and academic progression, overseeing activity and ensuring targeted action as appropriate.
Oversight of the development and delivery of inclusive processes that support all students, including related to Extenuating Circumstances, Learning Support Plans and responding to the participation element of the institution’s Access and Participation Plan and the requirements of Equality legislation.
Lead for Fitness to Practice in the School where required.
Oversight of all student facing events/materials and communications, including the welcome and induction activities, ensuring these are aligned with the University Welcome and Induction framework, and student handbooks.
Responsible for development and implementation of all student community building activities.
Active participation in relevant committees including School Education Committee and other committees/groups as appropriate.
Support colleagues in the wider Education and Student Experience Team to ensure that the School is able to deliver the full remit of its responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.
