Job Summary
The Planner & Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules to ensure timely completion within scope and budget. This role coordinates with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, and operations to create detailed execution plans and track progress.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning
- Develop detailed project schedules using planning software (e.g.
- Define project scope, work breakdown structure.
- Establish realistic timelines based on resources, constraints, and risks.
- Identify critical path activities and potential schedule risks.
2. Scheduling & Monitoring
- Maintain and update project schedules regularly.
- Track progress against baseline schedules.
- Monitor productivity and performance indicators.
- Analyse schedule variances and recommend corrective actions.
3. Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and contractors.
- Conduct schedule review meetings.
- Provide progress reports to stakeholders and management.
- Ensure alignment between engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
4. Resource Planning
- Assist in resource loading and manpower forecasting.
- Optimise allocation of labour, materials, and equipment.
- Identify resource conflicts and propose solutions.
5. Risk & Change Management
- Perform schedule risk analysis.
- Assess the impact of scope changes on timelines.
- Update forecasts based on approved changes.
- Support claim analysis and delay assessments when required.
6. Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly schedule reports.
- Maintain proper documentation of revisions and updates.
Required Qualifications
- 3–8 years of experience in project planning and scheduling (industry dependent).
- Proficiency in scheduling tools such similar software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of project management methodologies
- Experience in construction, water& gas, manufacturing, IT, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with cost control and earned value management.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
