Job Description

Job Title: Fire Alarm Technician

Trading Name: JS Fire Protection

Head Office: Fuzion 4 Head Office, St Leonards on Sea

Job Brief

The role involves working within the JS Fire Protection Team, carrying out a multitude of technical tasks in accordance with the BAFE and Company guidelines. As part of our team, you will receive ongoing training, support and development. We have great opportunities to help install and maintain work for our existing and new client base, these opportunities are in the domestic and commercial sectors with the provision of a wide range of fire services.

You will be trained on Fuzion 4’s operating system and will be expected to gain an awareness of various fire systems, as well as learning industry terminology.

This is a team-based role, but the ability to work confidently and effectively on your own initiative will be paramount. You must be well presented, a quick learner, and able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.

Duties can change from time to time subject to client’s requirements and change to the marketplace.

Contractual Information

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm with a 30minute unpaid break for lunch

Standby Duties: One in every four, subject to numbers of engineers.

Salary: £34,000.00 - £37,000.00 per year dependant on experience and qualifications

You will receive 22 days of paid holiday plus all UK statutory Bank Holidays, this entitlement increases with time served. You will also be auto-enrolled onto the workplace pension scheme after 3-months, which you can opt out of should you choose.

You will be provided with the following:

· Company van (business use only)

· Company mobile (business use only)

· Company uniform

Main Responsibilities

· Carry out fire alarm installations and small work to a high standard in accordance with BAFE guidelines.

· Carry out servicing (including weekly testing) and fault finding/rectification across all disciplines of fire to the relevant industry standards (BAFE and IEE).

· Compile comprehensive reports from all site visits.

· Carry out standby duties as a part of a team rota.

General Duties

· To be familiar with the companies’ policies, procedures and guidelines which are set out in the Employee Handbook. Particularly, those associated with Health and Safety.

· To undertake training and development essential for the role.

· To complete a 6-month probationary period and participate in annual appraisals with your line manager to monitor performance and set objectives.

· To undertake any other reasonable duty, at the same level of responsibility, that has been requested by senior staff.

Person Specification

Experience, Skills & Competencies Required (Technical & Practical Experience)

The candidate should have 3 years’ experience within the fire industry and should:

· Have experience in industrial, commercial, and domestic settings

· Fluent in the English language, both spoken and written, as well as being literate and numerate.

· Excellent customer service skills.

· Have the ability to correspond clearly, concisely, and politely with administrators, technicians, customers, and external organisations, whether by telephone or written communication. Have basic IT skills using MS Word, MS Outlook etc.

· Have the skills to be multi-faceted and the ability to carry out numerous duties across various departments.

· Have knowledge base of multiple manufacturers equipment and experience working with the following systems:

o C-tec

o Wireless Radio system

o Scantronic

o Texecom

o Morley/Kentec Fire

o Nurse Call Systems

· 3yrs experience in the fire industry

· Full UK Driving Licence
