As these businesses continue to evolve and grow, we're looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to support leaders across our Newcastle and Sowerby Bridge operations.

The Opportunity
As HR Business Partner, you'll support multiple business units, working directly with leaders to deliver practical people solutions that improve capability, productivity, retention and business performance.
You'll play a key role in driving organisational change, supporting workforce planning, managing complex employee relations matters and ensuring people initiatives align with commercial objectives.
Supported by our wider UK HR team based in Oxford, you'll act as a trusted advisor across a diverse workforce spanning engineering, manufacturing, technical and commercial functions.
What You'll Be Doing
Partnering with leaders to develop and deliver people plans that support business performance and growth.
Provide expert advice on employee relations, organisational change, performance, conduct, absence and capability matters.
Support workforce planning, succession planning and organisational design activities.
Drive engagement, retention and leadership effectiveness across the business.
Leading and embedding key HR processes including performance management, salary reviews and talent planning.
Using HR data and insights to influence decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement.
Work closely with Recruitment, Learning & Development, and wider HR colleagues to deliver consistent people outcomes.
Support business transformation, culture initiatives and the adoption of new ways of working
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
CIPD Level 5 qualified as a minimum (Level 7 desirable)
Significant HR Business Partnering experience within complex or changing organisations.
Experience supporting multiple sites and business units.
Strong employee relations expertise and up-to-date UK employment law knowledge.
Proven experience supporting organisational change, transformation or restructuring programmes.
Experience partnering with leaders within manufacturing, engineering, infrastructure, technology or operational environments.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
Ability to balance strategic priorities with practical, site-based delivery.
Location & Travel
This role is part-time, 3 days per week on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract.
You'll work in a hybrid site-based model, spending: 1 day per week in Newcastle & 1 day per week in Sowerby Bridge.
The remaining day flexed according to business needs.
Occasional travel to our Oxford headquarters may also be required.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as regular travel between locations forms a key part of the role.

Key Deliverables
How you will make an impact at Lucy Group:

Provide advice and guidance to internal customers on HR policies and procedures to ensure they are supported in their decisions and roles as people managers

Support the Senior HRBP and collaborate with the three centres of excellence (Learning & Development, Communications & Engagement and HR Services & Rewards) to ensure the successful implementation of their programs, policies and initiatives, as well as other functions (Legal, Finance, IT etc)

To promote, support and deliver the ongoing regular HR activities i.e. workforce planning, salary reviews, performance excellence etc

Provide a hands-on approach in dealing with HR and People matters delivering expert HR guidance to managers to help them build strong performing teams and sustainable organisational structures.

Drive Diversity and Inclusion in activities with Managers, including working with the HR Central Team in these actions. This could include reviewing employee benefits and wellbeing activities

Advise managers on management practice and ensures compliance with policies and procedures, including Employee Relations issues

Ensure the audit process is followed, met and maintained

Support the wider HR team as needed

To effect this, you will build trusted relationships with stakeholders and leaders in the business, and support the Senior HRBP to drive the delivery of the businesses’ people plans and make an impact in key areas.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills

CIPD qualified to level 5 or above, ideally level 7

Significant HR experience in a Senior Advisor/HR Manager role

Experience of managing and advising on Employee Relations activities including but not limited to Performance Management, Grievances, Disciplinaries, Absence Management

Up to date knowledge of employment law
Skills & Expertise:

Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders from around the business. As such, you will need to be able to present effectively to different levels of seniority as well as influence your stakeholders to incorporate the HR activity in their plans

Be a true generalist, with a good understanding of the many different responsibilities of the HR function (e.g. Learning & development, reward, compensation & benefits, HRIS and Services). You will be able to manage multiple tasks at once and also able to demonstrate that you work well both as part of a team and independently. It is essential that you can manage expectations amongst internal clients whilst driving the application of HR policies and processes.

Work with line managers and Senior HRBP to support their people strategies. As such, you must be able to engage and influence the business leaders and achieve excellence in supporting the day to day operations of the business, and also on specific projects. You will be able to demonstrate expertise building consensus on a cross-functional basis, working closely with the centres of excellence to implement their programmes.

Experience of working within organisations having had responsibility for multiple locations

Generalist HR experience including policy writing, solid exposure to Employee Relations, and excellent employment law knowledge

Ability to use HR data, metrics, and evidence to inform and drive decision making and change across your business areas
