Overview
We are seeking a self-employed Carpet & Vinyl Fitter to join our team. This role offers the flexibility of working independently on various flooring installation projects, primarily focusing on carpet and vinyl fitting within residential and commercial premises. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum 10 years experience with proof of work and be proficient with a range of hand and power tools. This position is perfect for experienced tradespeople looking to operate autonomously while delivering high-quality results.
Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and install carpets and vinyl flooring according to project specifications and client requirements
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, levelling, and applying necessary underlays or adhesives
- Utilise hand tools such as knives, trowels, and seam rollers to ensure seamless fitting
- Operate power tools safely for cutting, trimming, and fitting flooring materials
- Interpret schematics, plans, or technical drawings to execute precise installations
- Carry out minor carpentry tasks related to flooring preparation or finishing touches
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout each project
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding project progress and completion timelines
Experience
- Proven experience in flooring installation, specifically with carpets and vinyls
- Skilled in using hand tools including knives, chisels, screwdrivers, and measuring tapes
- Ability to read schematics or technical drawings to guide installations
- Experience operating power tools such as saws, drills, essential
- Prior work involving surface preparation and subfloor assessment is desirable. Pay: £24,274.86-£52,715.00 per year
