Job Summary
Working directly with the CEO to undertake Finance Control & Management covering all aspects of the business accountancy role from day-to-day bank reconciliation through to Group account consolidation for our businesses in India and the USA. The role will suit a candidate with experience of working in a similar position.
Responsibilities
Weekly
- · Process purchase and sales invoices; reconcile receipts and payments
- · Monitor bank position and update cash flow forecast
- · Review and action aged debtor report; chase overdue accounts as required
- · Process staff expenses and supplier payments in accordance with authorisation limits
Monthly
- · Produce monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet, within agreed deadlines
- · Prepare divisional P&L reports for the CEO
- · Process payroll inputs accurately; and ensure overtime and expense payments are approved by the CEO and payment schedules are uploaded to the bank in a timely manner to allow for CEO approval.
- · Reconcile bank accounts and key control accounts
- · Submit VAT return and ensure timely payment to HMRC
- · Monitor WIP and accruals; ensure revenue recognition is correctly applied
- · Maintain and update the fixed asset register
- · Report on debtor days, cash position, and any material financial concerns.
Quarterly / As Required
- · Update and review financial procedures and internal controls documentation
- · Support budget reviews and reforecast exercises as directed by the CEO
- · Manage intercompany accounting with any associated entities
- · Contribute to any ERP or systems development as required
Annual
- · Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with external auditors and accountants
- · Ensure statutory accounts are prepared and filed accurately and on time
- · Support the annual salary review process with relevant financial data
- · Complete the annual pension compliance obligations (auto-enrolment, re-enrolment as applicable)
- · Maintain audit and HMRC readiness throughout the year; produce supporting documentation on request
- · Assist the CEO with annual business planning and budget preparation
Requirements
Essential
- · Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT Level 4 or equivalent), or qualified by substantial experience
- · Proven experience managing the full finance function of an SME, including management accounts, payroll, VAT, and credit control
- · High degree of accuracy and personal discipline in financial record-keeping
- · Strong working knowledge of accounting software (Xero Accounts knowledge desirable).
- · Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines without prompting
- · Confident communicator with non-finance colleagues; able to translate financial information clearly
- · Sound understanding of UK VAT, PAYE, NIC, and statutory filing obligations
Desirable
- · Experience in a project-based, technical services, or consultancy environment
- · Familiarity with international intercompany accounting or multi-entity structures
- · Experience supporting external audits or liaising with statutory accountants
- · Exposure to ERP implementation or financial systems improvement projects

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
