Full job description

Overview
Metropolitan Security Services are seeking a number of vigilant and dedicated Store Detectives to join our retail security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring store premises to prevent theft, ensure safety, and maintain a secure shopping environment. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic retail setting, contributing to the safety of staff and customers alike. Prior experience in surveillance or security is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular surveillance of store areas using CCTV equipment and physical patrols to identify suspicious activity.
Monitor customer and staff behaviour for signs of theft or misconduct.
Respond promptly to any security incidents, ensuring the safety of all individuals within the store.
Write detailed reports on incidents, observations, and security breaches for management records.
Assist with emergency situations, including providing first aid when necessary, until professional help arrives.
Collaborate with store management and law enforcement agencies as required to resolve security issues effectively.
Maintain a visible presence to deter theft and promote a secure shopping environment.

Skills

Experience or knowledge in surveillance techniques and equipment operation is desirable.
Strong report writing skills with the ability to document incidents accurately and clearly.
First aid certification or the ability to respond effectively in medical emergencies.
Excellent observational skills with keen attention to detail.
Good communication skills, able to liaise professionally with colleagues, customers, and authorities.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations discreetly and confidently.
