The role:
Your duties will include: Provide an efficient, high quality domestic service to patients and staff, follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas. Duties include cleaning all areas of our health Centre clinical and non-clinical locations - activities will include wet mopping, vacuuming, emptying bins, replenishing supplies, cleaning fixtures, and furniture and toilet/bathroom areas. There is the requirement for you have a flexible approach to daily routine. There will be the use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions. In some roles you may be required to use mechanical cleaning equipment. You are required to wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas of work.
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

Key responsibilities:
- Present an efficient, high quality domestic service to patients and staff within the hospital.
- Follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas although post holders are required to have a flexible approach to daily routine.
- Economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions.
- Care and use of mechanical cleaning equipment.
- Inform Supervisor of requirements for work materials as required and check delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department.
- Disposal of waste in accordance with relevant Policy.
- Clean crockery, cutlery, utensils, containers and small scale equipment manually or through the dish washer located in the ward kitchen (as per work schedule).

Work in accordance with pre-agreed cleaning schedules/frequencies (as per work schedule).
- Respond to rectifications following audit within given timescale.
- Responsible for regeneration of ward meals and plating up of meals as part of Ward food service (as per work schedule).
- Comply with Infection Control Guidelines including colour coding system and body fluid cleaning in public areas
- Participate in maintaining security at all times including setting alarms, distributing keys, closing windows and doors securely (as per work schedule)
- If included on work schedule, bed screen/curtain hanging where required.
- Ensure a smart and professional manner at all times.
- Maintain high personal hygiene standards.
- Comply with Health & Safety regulations.

Experience and skills will be acquired through full induction training supplemented by additional training such as:
- Knowledge of all aspects of Domestic Service as in job purpose.
- Training in the use of all machinery used.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety.
- Knowledge of C.O.S.H.H.
- Knowledge of Lifting and Handling.
- Knowledge of Infection Control practices.
- Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Good communication skills.
- Good customer care skills.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
