Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Worker to join our team. Must hold a FLT licence and be competent handling large steel loads.

Main duties to include loading and unloading of steel, handling deliveries, painting and spraying, fettling, drilling and general yard duties and housekeeping. Driving licence is also preferred to do some delivering.

Starting wage is above minimum wage and dependant on experience.

Hours Mon – Fri 08.00-16.30

Responsibilities

Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency
Operate forklift trucks and other machinery following safety protocols
Assist with materials handling, including moving items around the yard and storage areas
Perform basic equipment repairs and maintenance as needed to ensure operational readiness
Support shipping and receiving activities, including documentation.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment and report any faults or issues
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment at all times
Assist with stock organisation, including stacking pallets and arranging stock and materials in designated areas

Qualifications

Previous experience in yard work
Valid forklift licence is essential
Experience with equipment repair is desirable
Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and efficiently
Basic mathematical skills for inventory counts and measurements
Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual tasks throughout the shift
