About Us

Alongside our core accounting and tax services, we provide an outsourced finance department solution for growing businesses that require a higher level of financial support. Our team works closely with clients to become an integral part of their business, delivering accurate financial information and proactive advice.

We operate a hybrid working policy, although the role may require travel to client premises when needed.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a varied client portfolio, takes pride in delivering accurate financial information, and is confident working independently while supporting junior team members.

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients and producing high-quality management information to support their businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Processing all bookkeeping transactions accurately and efficiently
Raising and processing customer invoices
Processing supplier invoices and managing supplier accounts
Preparing and posting payroll journal entries
Preparing prepayments and accruals
Preparing and submitting CIS returns
Processing supplier payment runs
Preparing monthly management accounts
Reconciling bank, VAT and control accounts
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Responding to day-to-day client queries and providing bookkeeping support
Identifying discrepancies and resolving accounting issues
Reviewing financial reports and highlighting anomalies
Training, mentoring and supporting junior team members
Building strong relationships with clients and providing excellent customer service

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Proven bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or a small to medium-sized organisation
Strong working knowledge of Xero and other cloud accounting software
Excellent understanding of VAT and CIS legislation
Experience preparing management accounts
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
The ability to analyse financial reports and identify issues proactively
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Confidence working independently and managing your own workload
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence dealing directly with clients and providing a professional service
The ability to use initiative and solve problems effectively
Experience supporting, training or mentoring junior colleagues would be advantageous
