Brown Bird and Company is a design-led campervan conversion business specialising in premium Land Rover Defender, VW Transporter and Mercedes Sprinter conversions.
We build unique, high-quality campervans with exceptional attention to detail, combining craftsmanship, innovative design and practical functionality. Our order book is currently full until Summer 2027, and due to continued growth we're looking for another skilled team member to join our workshop near Thirsk.
The Role
We are looking for a practical, hands-on Campervan Electrical & Plumbing Technician to join our growing workshop team.
Electrical experience is essential. Plumbing experience would be advantageous but is not essential as training can be provided to the right candidate.
You will be responsible for installing, testing and fault-finding campervan electrical systems, as well as assisting with or undertaking plumbing installations including water, heating and gas systems where appropriate.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes pride in their work, and wants to be involved in building some of the UK's most unique campervan conversions.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Systems
- Install 12V and 230V electrical systems in campervans
- Fit and commission batteries, charging systems, solar systems, inverters and control panels
- Install lighting, appliances and electrical accessories
- Test completed systems and carry out fault finding where required
- Ensure all installations are neat, safe and completed to a high standard
Plumbing Systems
- Install fresh water and waste water systems
- Fit pumps, tanks, pipework and water heaters
- Assist with diesel heating and hot water systems
- Pressure test and commission completed systems
- Diagnose and rectify plumbing-related faults
General
- Work closely with the workshop team to deliver high-quality builds
- Read wiring diagrams, technical drawings and installation instructions
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Contribute ideas and improvements to build processes
- Ensure all work complies with relevant safety standards and best practice
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous electrical experience (automotive, marine, leisure vehicle, commercial vehicle, agricultural, plant or similar)
- Ability to fault-find and diagnose electrical issues
- High attention to detail
- Good practical workshop skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Desirable
- Experience with 12V vehicle electrics
- Experience with campervans, caravans, motorhomes or boats
- Plumbing experience
- Experience with Victron Energy systems
- Gas, heating or water system installation experience
- Relevant qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent)
