About the role
We are looking for a Caseworker – Community Support to join our team.
This is a varied, people-focused role supporting individuals across a number of CN4C projects. You could be helping someone improve their wellbeing, overcome difficulties with housing or finances, access learning or volunteering, move towards employment, or simply work out what their next step should be.
You won’t be there to tell people what to do. You’ll build trusting relationships, listen to what matters to each person and work alongside them to identify their goals, strengths and the barriers that may be getting in their way.
Because you’ll work across a number of our projects, no two days will necessarily look the same. You’ll learn the requirements of different CN4C projects and be able to step in where support is needed. You’ll work from our bases in Redruth and St Austell, as well as within communities across Cornwall.
What you’ll be doing
Your work will include:
- providing one-to-one and group support to people in our communities
- building positive, trusting and professional relationships
- helping people identify their goals and take practical steps towards them
- providing information, advice and guidance in an inclusive and non-judgemental way
- supporting people who may be experiencing multiple or complex challenges
- helping people access training, education, volunteering, employment and other opportunities
- working with colleagues, community organisations and specialist partners to make sure people can access the right support
- managing a caseload and completing regular reviews, goals and actions
- keeping accurate records and ensuring project paperwork and databases are kept up to date
- supporting project delivery, outcomes and reporting.
About you
We’re interested in how you work with people, not just where you have worked before.
You may already have experience in casework, community work, employability, wellbeing, housing, information and advice, mentoring, coaching or another support role. Your understanding may also have developed through volunteering or your own lived experience.
You’ll need to be someone who can build relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds, listen without judgement and remain calm when situations are challenging.
You’ll also need:
- experience of working with people in a professional or support setting
- an understanding of the barriers that can affect people experiencing multiple or complex challenges
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- empathy and the ability to support people experiencing emotional distress
- the ability to motivate and encourage people to make positive changes
- good organisation and time-management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities
- confidence using IT and maintaining accurate records
- the ability to work independently as well as being part of a supportive team
- experience or a qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance, mentoring or coaching, or equivalent experience.
You will also need to be able to travel between different locations and be flexible about your working pattern. Some evening and weekend work may be required depending on the needs of our projects and communities.
Hours
We are open to applications from people looking to work between 22.5 and 37.5 hours per week.
We recognise that the right person may be looking for something other than a traditional full-time working pattern, so we are happy to discuss how the hours could work for you alongside the needs of the role.

This role is subject to CN4C’s safer recruitment process. The successful candidate will be required to provide a minimum of two references and undertake a DBS check before taking up the position.
Pay: £16,508.70-£27,495.00 per year
