Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Paediatric Clinical Nurse Trainer to join our team on a flexible, self-employed basis.
The Role
This is an interesting and varied clinical role where you will be responsible for delivering specialist training, assessing competencies and supporting the clinical governance of our support worker teams.
You will work closely with our Case Managers and office team to ensure that support workers receive high-quality, practical training and that all competency records remain accurate and up to date.
The role combines home visits, office-based administration and independent working, making it ideal for an organised nurse who enjoys both teaching and hands-on clinical practice. The workload is flexible and is expected to average approximately 4–6 days per month, although this may vary depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver practical clinical training to support workers in:
- Gastrostomy care and feeding
- Medication Administration
- Epilepsy awareness and rescue medication
- Oral suction
- Assess and sign off staff competencies.
- Provide refresher training where required.
- Maintain accurate training records and competency documentation.
- Transcribe prescribed medication onto Medication Administration Record (MAR) charts.
- Work with Case Managers to identify training needs within individual support packages.
- Manage your own diary and workload in conjunction with our administration team.
- Travel to clients' homes throughout the East Midlands and Yorkshire.
About You
You will be a confident and experienced children's nurse who enjoys developing others and maintaining high clinical standards.
You will have:
- Current NMC registration as a Registered Children's Nurse (RN Child/RSCN).
- Significant experience caring for children and young people with complex healthcare needs.
- Experience in Gastrostomy care.
- Experience of Medication Administration and MAR charts.
- Experience supporting children with epilepsy, including rescue medication.
- Experience of oral suction.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365.
- The ability to work independently whilst managing your own workload effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering clinical training.
- Experience assessing staff competencies.
- Community paediatric nursing or complex care experience.
- Teaching or assessor qualification.
- Experience of tracheostomy care and training.
