The Role
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Assistant Claims Manager to join our growing claims handling team on a remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support the management of claims portfolios (primarily in insurance and liability lines), contribute to team leadership, and develop your expertise within a progressive, specialist firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Claims Handling Manager in overseeing a portfolio of claims, from notification through to resolution.
- Manage and mentor a team of claims handlers, ensuring high standards of technical claims handling and compliance.
- Handle complex or high-value claims directly, providing strategic advice and negotiating settlements.
- Liaise with clients, brokers, insureds, and external experts to drive efficient claims outcomes.
- Monitor claims performance, identify trends, and contribute to process improvements and best practices.
- Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, service level agreements, and internal policies.
- Contribute to client reporting, audits, and business development initiatives.
Requirements
- Significant experience in insurance claims handling, ideally within a law firm, insurer, or third-party administrator environment.
- Proven supervisory or team leadership experience (or strong potential to step into an assistant manager role).
- Strong technical knowledge of UK insurance law and practice, with exposure to lines such as Professional Indemnity, EL/PL, Property, Casualty, or Financial Lines preferred.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CII or legal background) are advantageous but not essential.
What We Offer
- Fully remote working across the UK, with flexible hours to support work-life balance.
- Competitive salary (dependent on experience).
- Comprehensive benefits package including pension, private medical insurance, life assurance, and professional development support.
- Opportunities for career progression within a growing international firm.
- Collaborative culture with access to specialist knowledge and training.
- Recognition as part of an award-winning claims team.
