AKI is looking for an experienced Tool Maker to join our Tool Room team.
This is a hands-on role within a precision injection moulding environment, supporting the maintenance, repair and modification of injection mould tools and components. You’ll work closely with production, engineering and quality teams to help keep tools running reliably and ensure we continue to meet customer demands and quality standards.
The role will involve:
- Maintaining, repairing and modifying injection mould tools
- Carrying out clean downs, detail changes and tool improvements
- Operating toolroom machinery including CNC, grinding machines, centre lathes, XYZ milling, manual milling and turning machines
- Supporting tooling improvements to reduce scrap, improve cycle time and increase tool reliability
- Designing and manufacturing jigs and fixtures from drawings
- Recording tooling data on WinMan, ALS and the tooling register
- Working in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards
We’re looking for someone with:
- Toolmaking experience, ideally within injection mould tooling
- NVQ Level 3 in Tool Making or equivalent
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience operating lathes, mills, grinders and CNC machinery
- A practical, flexible and proactive approach
- The ability to work accurately and efficiently to deadlines
Hours:
37.5 hours per week
Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–4:30pm
Friday, 8:00am–2:00pm finish
