Reporting directly to the Managing Directors, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the group's technical strategy, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across all sites.
This is not a role for someone who simply wants to maintain standards. We are looking for a hands-on leader who wants to build, improve, influence and leave a lasting legacy.
About Us
Here at Severn & Wye Smokery Ltd, we are dedicated to the production, innovation, and development of salmon and fish products supplying major retailers, foodservice operators, wholesalers and export markets throughout the UK and beyond.

- Ensure all sites achieve and maintain the highest audit and compliance standards.

- Drive continuous improvement in food safety, quality systems and technical performance.
- Standardise technical processes and best practices across all sites.
- Lead and develop Technical, QA and Maintenance teams.
- Strengthen food safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Support capital investment projects, process improvements and business growth initiatives.
- Champion innovation, sustainability and the adoption of modern technical systems.

- Experience leading and developing technical and quality teams.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between sites.
Highly Desirable
- PCQI qualification and experience.
- Experience within seafood, meat, chilled, ready-to-eat or high-care food manufacturing.
- Experience leading multi-site technical operations.
- Knowledge of Organic, MSC, Kosher, Freedom Foods or similar certification schemes.
- Experience implementing digital QA or paperless systems.
- Exposure to factory expansion, CAPEX or technical transformation projects.
