As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in assisting the Head of Finance and supporting the day to day financial operations of the wider business.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will support a broad range of finance activities across both UK and group operations, including:
- month-end processes
- multi-currency transactions
- intercompany accounting
- audit support
- payroll support
- group reporting
- project-led finance activities
You will work closely with and support the Accounts Assistant, whilst also having occasional liaison with colleagues at Group HQ in Germany.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Finance with day-to-day finance operations
- Provide some cover for selected Head of Finance responsibilities in time of absence
Assist Head of Finance with Interim and Final Audit
- Ownership of some Month-end and year-end closing activities
- Support balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Process and reconcile multi-currency transactions
- Assist with management accounts and group reporting support
- Carry out bank reconciliations and short term cash flow monitoring
- Approval and review of purchase invoices
- Assist with sales, purchase, and general ledger activities
- Support reconciliation of supplier and customer ledger accounts
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve supplier queries
- Assist with supplier payment runs and payment prioritisation
- Assist and support the Accounts Assistant with day-to-day finance operations
- Support payroll administration and payroll-related queries using Sage Payroll
- Assist with VAT returns, intercompany recharging, and reconciliations
- Support audit preparation and finance reporting requirements
- Work within Xero for accounting transactions and reporting
- Support CRM administration and finance-related data management
- Assist with finance-related queries across the business B2C + B2B
- Liaise with Group HQ colleagues in Germany where required
- Support ad hoc operational and administrative tasks as needed
About You
- AAT Level 3 / Level 4 qualified, part-qualified, or Qualified by Experience (QBE)
- Experience within an Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer, or similar finance role
- Confident using Xero and ideally Sage Payroll
- Experience with reconciliations, month-end support, and multi-currency transactions
- Organised with strong planning and prioritisation skills
- Comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels
- Positive, adaptable, and hands-on with a “can-do” attitude
- Able to work independently whilst also contributing as part of a collaborative team
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced and evolving business environment
