Full job description

WE’RE HIRING – TRADE COUNTER SALES ASSISTANT

We are currently looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic Trade Counter Sales Assistant to join our busy plumbing and building trade counter team at Ideal Plumbing in Heywood.

We’re looking for somebody with good Plumbing/DIY knowledge, a positive working attitude, and a willingness to learn. Full training will be provided for the right candidate. Previous experience within plumbing/building supplies is preferred but not essential.

Main duties will include:

Serving and assisting customers face-to-face on the trade counter
Picking customer orders
Handling customer enquiries and orders over the phone
Accepting and checking supplier deliveries
Assisting with lifting and carrying goods when required
Maintaining a clean, organised and well-merchandised counter area
Placing supplier orders via computer and telephone
Contacting customers by phone regarding orders and enquiries
Providing excellent customer service at all times
Following company health & safety procedures

Applicants should have:

A basic level of computer literacy
Good communication skills
A flexible approach to work
A willingness to learn products and systems

A driving license is preferred, but not essential, as there may occasionally be opportunities to assist with local bathroom deliveries.
