About Ramm Construction
Ramm Construction delivers building, refurbishment and construction projects across residential and commercial sectors.
We are looking for a Construction Estimator who can take ownership of pricing enquiries from initial review through to submitted quotation. This is a target-driven role suited to someone who understands construction, can interpret drawings and specifications, and can work with customers, architects, suppliers and subcontractors to produce accurate, commercially viable quotes.
This role is central to maintaining a strong flow of priced work into the business, supporting quote conversion and helping drive the company’s growth plans.
The Role
The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing incoming enquiries, understanding the scope of works, gathering the information needed to price accurately, and preparing clear quotations that protect margin while remaining competitive.
Projects may include refurbishments, extensions, alterations, general building works and larger construction packages. The role will involve a mix of desk-based estimating, site visits, customer communication, supplier/subcontractor liaison and relationship-building with professional contacts.
You will be expected to manage your own quoting workload, meet agreed turnaround times and contribute directly to quotation output, conversion, turnover and margin targets.
Where enquiry levels are lower than required, you will also be expected to support business development activity by maintaining relationships with architects, designers, introducers and other referral partners, helping to create opportunities and keep the project pipeline moving.

- Assess the scope of works and identify any missing information, assumptions or exclusions.
- Attend site visits to understand project requirements and gather pricing information.

- Manage quote turnaround times and maintain a consistent flow of priced work.
- Track quoting activity against agreed targets.
- Support handover from quote stage to project delivery where required.
- Review quote outcomes to improve pricing accuracy, conversion and margin.
- Maintain positive relationships with architects, designers, introducers and referral partners.
- Support targeted outreach and networking activity where required to help generate suitable enquiries.
- Contribute to improvements in estimating systems, processes and cost data.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience estimating within construction, refurbishment, extensions, alterations or general building works.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications and schedules of work.
- Strong understanding of construction costs, labour, materials and subcontractor packages.
- Good commercial judgement and awareness of margin.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Confident communication skills with customers, architects, suppliers, subcontractors and professional contacts.
- Ability to manage multiple enquiries and work to deadlines.
- Target-driven approach with a focus on quotation output, conversion and profitability.
- Comfortable building relationships and supporting business development activity where required.
- Good IT skills and confidence using estimating or project management software.
