VISIO Health is a family-run, consultant-led private ophthalmology clinic in Wooburn Green, Buckinghamshire.

We are looking for a kind, reliable and proactive Bank Healthcare Assistant / Clinic Assistant to support our clinical team during busy clinics, procedures, staff leave and ad hoc cover.
This role would suit someone local, friendly and hands-on who enjoys patient care and takes pride in creating a calm, safe and high-quality experience.
The Role
As a Bank Healthcare Assistant / Clinic Assistant, you will support patients, consultants, nurses, technicians and reception staff to help each ophthalmology clinic run smoothly.
You may be involved in preparing rooms, supporting patients before and after appointments, helping with basic observations, assisting with clinic flow and making sure the environment is clean, organised and safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and reassure patients in a warm, professional manner.
- Support patients before, during and after consultations or procedures.
- Assist with basic clinical checks where trained, such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, blood pressure or other observations.
- Chaperone patients when required.
- Prepare consultation, treatment and diagnostic rooms.
- Clean and restock rooms between patients.
- Support infection prevention and control standards.
- Assist nurses, consultants and diagnostics staff as required.
- Help maintain accurate records and communicate clearly with the wider team.
- Support smooth patient flow through the clinic.
- Escalate concerns appropriately to the nurse, consultant or senior team.
- Maintain confidentiality, dignity and professionalism at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as an HCA, clinic assistant, optical assistant, theatre assistant or similar healthcare support role.
- Kind, calm and patient-centred approach.
- Reliable, punctual and flexible.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work well in a small team.
- Comfortable working in a private healthcare setting.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn VISIO’s systems and standards.
Desirable Experience
- Ophthalmology experience.
- Private healthcare experience.
- Theatre or day surgery experience.
- Experience supporting minor procedures.
- Experience with vision checks, observations or diagnostic clinic flow.
- Care Certificate or equivalent healthcare training.
- Basic life support training.
- Chaperone training.
Working Pattern
This is a bank role, so hours will vary depending on clinic needs.
We are particularly interested in local candidates who can help with annual leave cover, occasional busy clinic days, procedure sessions and ad hoc support.
There is no guaranteed minimum number of hours, but we are looking for someone who can become a trusted and valued part of the VISIO team.
