The Site Manager (Decarbonisation) is responsible for the safe, compliant, and high‑quality delivery of retrofit works on site. The role ensures that energy efficiency and building improvement measures are installed in accordance with approved designs, PAS 2030 requirements, programme, and budget.
Acting as the key on‑site lead, the Site Manager coordinates subcontractors, manages resident interfaces, and maintains quality control to ensure retrofit projects achieve intended performance outcomes while minimising disruption and risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate retrofit works on site in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and project programmes.
- Ensure retrofit activities comply with PAS 2030, Building Regulations, health & safety legislation, and company procedures.
- Oversee day‑to‑day delivery of works including insulation, ventilation, heating upgrades, renewables, and fabric improvements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site operatives to ensure quality, productivity, and sequencing of works.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, maintaining compliance with CDM regulations, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Maintain quality control, carrying out regular inspections to ensure installations meet design intent and manufacturer requirements.
- Work closely with Retrofit Assessors, Designers, Coordinators, and Clerks of Works to resolve site issues and maintain compliance.
- Manage access, phasing, and resident liaison to minimise disruption in occupied properties.
- Identify, report, and resolve defects, non‑conformances, and variations promptly.
- Monitor progress against programme and cost, reporting risks, delays, or opportunities to project management.
- Ensure correct installation of measures to prevent unintended consequences such as damp, condensation, or overheating.
- Maintain accurate site records including progress reports, photos, permits, and completion documentation.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities to ensure systems perform as designed.
- Champion best practice in sustainability, waste reduction, and environmental management on site.
- Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to promote quality and compliance.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
- NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management
- 5-Day - CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
- Scaffold Inspection
- 3 Day First Aid at Work
- Asbestos Awareness
- Black Management CSCS Card
- Proven experience in a Site Management Role
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and requirements
- Experience Manging Retrofit Works Under PAS 2030
- Strong knowledge of electrical, heating and insulation installations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to travel to operational sites as required
