About us

At Guiding Light Care Ltd, our vision and focus revolves around offering safe, homely and productive environments for Children in need nationally. Much like a lighthouse guides you in the right direction, we share a combined interest in the development and progression of the young people in our care. Through understanding each child as an individual and employing a bespoke approach to their needs, our aim is to inspire them to shine at their brightest, empower them to make educated decisions, keep themselves and others safe and live healthy lifestyles.

Guiding Light Care (GLC) are opening a new childcare provision in the Rushden area of East Northamptonshire, and are seeking to recruit positive, confident, nurturing full time, Assistant Team Managers, for our new home. We will be providing care for children and young people aged 8 – 17 years with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Salary

£30,000 to £34,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Sleep in's are paid additional are at £45 a sleep.

Shifts will be completed on a rolling Rota basis.

On-call duty Rota.

About you

You will be supporting the home manager in taking a child-centred approach in the supervision, mentoring and development of the staff team to ensure children and young people are supported in their daily routines and their physical, emotional and practical needs. You will be a positive role model for both staff and young people demonstrating best practice in achieving the best possible results for the young people we support, in line with Ofsted Regulations and Quality Standards. You will mentor, encourage, and support them in the development of independent skills and education attainment.

We are looking for individuals with strong leadership and motivational skills and ability who will be able to continue to develop the service we provide. The role of Assistant Team Manager requires active commitment to the children and young people in our care and a diligence to the values and ethos of Guiding Light Care.

The safeguarding of children and young people are a priority at GLC and therefore you will be required to undergo a full enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS) and vetting in line with safer recruitment policies and procedures.

Specifications and Requirements for the role

Manage the residential home on a day-to-day basis ensuring it is compliant in meeting all relevant legislative and contractual requirements, including the health and educational needs of young people.
To address the needs of the young people according to their individual care plans
Create and produce activities to occupy and develop young people in order that they gain life skills and education on an informed basis
Liaise with other departments and external agencies to ensure that the young people receive appropriate plans, programmes, and support in the home to aid their rehabilitation into the community and to meet contractual requirements.
Coach, support and develop staff, including supervision, to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care, values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, legislation and contractual and inspection framework requirements are met.
Maintain knowledge of and apply the relevant legislative, regulative standards against inspection framework requirements
The ability to act as a positive an appropriate adult role model for young people and the ability to offer a professional relationship in a caring and accepting manner.
To be able to give children and young people a voice in decisions about the care that impact their lives.
To exercise a variety of skills to encourage young people in their education attainment.
Able to carry out all duties in line with Guiding Light Care (GLC) policies and procedures.
Able to maintain high standards of health and safety, safeguarding and quality as well as ensuring an inclusive, adaptable and caring atmosphere.
Able to form and maintain good working relationships and to work effectively as part of a team.
Where necessary, identify and challenge negative behaviours in an appropriate and constructive manner.
Must be committed to undertake regular job related training.
A professional social work qualification, QCF level 3/4 or working towards.
Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent and have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.
Assist in budget preparation and manage and control budgets to meet financial parameters.
Attend and engage in staff meetings where required.
To complete additional tasks and duties requested by your line manager that are reasonable within your role as Assistant Team Manager.
