Overview

We are a highly regarded, forward-thinking law firm based in the heart of Cardiff. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional, compassionate legal advice to our clients while fostering a supportive and flexible working environment for our staff. We are looking for a passionate Family Care Solicitor to join our busy team.

The Role

You will be stepping into an active and rewarding caseload focused primarily on public family law and care proceedings. You will represent parents, family members, and children (through their Guardians) across a variety of complex and sensitive matters.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing an independent caseload of public law care proceedings from inception to conclusion.
Advising clients with empathy, clarity, and professionalism during highly stressful periods.
Managing Legal Aid applications, including CCMS processing and ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) requirements.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with CAFCASS, local authorities, and expert witnesses.
Assisting in the supervision and development of junior staff or paralegals.
Undertaking advocacy on your cases.
Running cases with a view to maximising profitability.

About You

Care work requires a unique blend of sharp legal acumen and genuine empathy. We are looking for an individual who is resilient, highly organized, and deeply committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for vulnerable clients.

Requirements:

Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with at least [2+] years PQE specifically within Family/Care Law. We will consider candidates who have less PQE and who can exhibit significant pre qualification experience and an ability to achieve financial targets.
Membership of the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme (Children Panel) is highly desirable, or you must be willing to work toward it.
Proven experience handling Legal Aid files and a strong understanding of LAA procedures.
Confident advocacy skills and a desire to conduct your own hearings wherever possible.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients from diverse backgrounds.
