Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Trainee Drainage Engineer to join our team. This entry-level position offers valuable hands-on experience in drainage systems, infrastructure maintenance, and repair work. The role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in developing a career within civil engineering, with a focus on drainage and underground utilities. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training and support to build essential skills in the field.

Responsibilities

Assist with excavation and installation of drainage systems using various tools and equipment
Support the use of excavators, hand tools, and power tools to carry out drainage repairs and maintenance
Conduct basic inspections of drainage infrastructure to identify faults or blockages
Assist with the operation of mechanical and electrical equipment related to drainage works
Follow health and safety procedures at all times during site activities
Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring all tools and materials are stored correctly
Support senior engineers in project tasks, including site surveys and measurements

Qualifications

No prior experience required; however, an interest in civil engineering or infrastructure work is desirable
Basic mechanical knowledge or electrical experience is advantageous but not essential
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools is a plus
Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training programmes
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Strong team player with good communication skills
Valid UK driving licence is mandatory
