Binder Limited is looking for a motivated and hardworking Tanker Operative Assistant to join our expanding Sewage Services team.
Based in Hadleigh, Suffolk, you will work alongside an experienced Articulated Tanker Driver as part of a two-person crew, travelling across Eat Anglia and the surrounding areas to empty sewage treatment plants, septic tanks, cesspits, and pumping stations.

The Role
As a Tanker Operative Assistant, you will support an experienced Articulated Tanker Driver in delivering safe, efficient, and professional tankering services. Working as part of a two-person crew, you'll assist with the operation of specialist vacuum tanker equipment while learning all aspects of the role.
This is a physically active position that involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and travelling to customer sites throughout East Anglia region.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Articulated Tanker Driver to complete daily scheduled work safely and efficiently.
- Assist with the emptying of sewage treatment plants, septic tanks, cesspits, and pumping stations.
- Safely set up, operate, and pack away hoses, pumps, and vacuum equipment.
- Assist with site preparation and ensure work areas are left clean and safe upon completion.
- Carry out routine cleaning and basic maintenance of the tanker, equipment, and tools.
- Record job information using handheld electronic devices where required.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including dynamic risk assessments and the correct use of PPE.
- Maintain vehicles and equipment in a clean, tidy, and serviceable condition.
- Assist with stock management by ensuring equipment and consumables are replenished.
- Deliver excellent customer service and represent Binder Limited professionally at all times.
- Work closely with the scheduling team to complete daily workloads efficiently.
- Be flexible to meet operational requirements, including overtime and occasional weekend work.

- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual work.
Desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence (Category B).
- Experience in construction, drainage, utilities, wastewater, agriculture, groundworks, haulage, or another practical outdoor role.
- Basic IT skills for completing electronic job records.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Practical problem-solving skills.
Previous experience within the wastewater industry is not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Working Environment
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll work at domestic, commercial, agricultural, and industrial sites across East Anglia, supporting our experienced Tanker Driver in delivering an essential service to our customers.
