About The Role

JOB TITLE: M&E Coordinator
DIVISION Civil Engineering
LOCATION Midlands with travel within the UK as required

Are you an experienced M&E professional ready to shape the delivery of major civil engineering projects across the UK? GRAHAM is seeking a skilled M&E Coordinator to join our Civil Engineering division, supporting high‑profile projects throughout the Midlands and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong electrical experience, particularly within highways, utilities, or rail environments, to play a key role in coordinating complex M&E packages from design through to commissioning. Some of the key responsibilities of the M&E Coordinator:

Managing M&E elements of live civil engineering projects predominately on Highways & Industrial contracts.
Meeting with designers and subcontractors on a regular basis to develop a contract programme and to monitor progress of the design, procurement, installation and commissioning works against the contract programme.
Early identification of potential project risks and taking appropriate mitigation action in accordance with contract requirements.
Liaising with clients and their consultants/representatives as part of the project management structure.
Liaising with in-house M&E design project teams to ensure design is developed in line with expectations.
Site supervision of works, ensuring works are planned, coordinated and completed in accordance with company Safety, Health & Environmental policies.
Implementation and compliance with client site safety rules.
Providing M&E technical input and advice as required for live projects and tenders.
Coordinating any temporary M&E services required.
Providing M&E construction methodology input and incorporating in the programme where required.
Managing the Quality of all aspects of the M&E works, checking contractor Quality plans and assisting with the development of Inspection & Testing Plans
Managing the flow of information from the M&E design team and subcontractors and advising the project team of any impact on progress and programme.
Providing necessary information to the Procurement Department to enable the procurement of materials and subcontractors.
Preparation and submission of handover documents including, when necessary, appointing independent commissioning managers and overseeing the development of commissioning records.
Introducing improvements and innovations, where appropriate.
Liaising with the Commercial and Project Management teams on commercial aspects relevant to the role, as required.

This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the M&E Coordinator and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

Essential

Experience of working on Civil Engineering Highways & Utility construction projects and/or experience of Industrial construction projects.
Having an understanding of the construction process, such that designs are developed with appropriate regard for buildability.
Possessing a sound technical understanding of M&E industrial and major utility applications.
Effective Communication skills.
Customer Focused and Team Player.
Results orientated with the ability to effectively plan and prioritise.

Desirable
Experience of planning and coordinating M&E subcontractors in civil engineering contracts.
Good awareness and application of commercial forms of contract.
Chartered or Incorporated Member of professional body or working towards it.
