Working at mobile fish stall as a counter assistant, serving customers and providing quilty service.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Fish Market Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, handling, and selling fresh seafood products in a busy retail environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in food preparation and seafood retail, contributing to a high standard of customer service and food safety. The position is paid and suitable for individuals passionate about culinary arts, food production, and sustainable seafood practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the selection, preparation, and presentation of fresh fish and seafood products
- Ensure all seafood is stored, displayed, and handled in accordance with food safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the fish counter and work area
- Provide knowledgeable advice to customers regarding different types of seafood and cooking methods
- Restock supplies and ensure the display remains attractive and inviting
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times during food handling and preparation
- including stock rotation and recording deliveries
Experience
- Previous experience in food production or culinary roles is advantageous
- Knowledge of butchery or fishmongery techniques is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
- Experience working in a restaurant or kitchen environment is beneficial
- Familiarity with food safety standards and procedures is desirable
- Prior retail or customer service experience will be considered an asset
