Estate Maintenance Operative
Location: Royle Farm Estate, Drakelow, South Derbyshire
Salary: £12,000 - £27,000 per annum (depending on experience and hours worked)
Hours: Flexible – 2 to 5 days per week, Monday to Friday
Join Our Growing Estate Team
Royle Farm is a diverse rural estate encompassing a thriving business park, a unique wedding venue, luxury wedding accommodation and beautifully maintained grounds. Over the last 10 years, the estate has grown significantly under young, ambitious management, and we have exciting plans for the future.
We are looking for a motivated and hardworking Estate Maintenance Operative to join our friendly team. Reporting directly to the Estate Manager, you'll play an important role in maintaining and continually improving the estate across all of our businesses.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work and likes being involved in a wide range of projects.
Flexible Working
We understand that the right person may not necessarily be looking for a traditional full-time role. We are therefore happy to consider applicants looking to work between two and five days per week, with a salary ranging from £12,000 to £27,000 per year, depending on experience, skills and the agreed working pattern.
Whether you're looking for part-time work around other commitments or a full-time career, we'd be delighted to hear from you. We believe finding the right person is more important than fitting someone into a rigid set of hours.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include both routine maintenance and assisting with ongoing improvement projects across the estate. Routine maintenance would be a combination of the below.
Accommodation & Gardens
- Hedge cutting, mowing and strimming
- Weed control
- General garden maintenance and planting
- Clearing leaves and garden waste
- Keeping the accommodation grounds looking their best throughout the year
Wedding Venue
- Assisting with wedding venue turnarounds, including moving furniture and equipment between events
- Maintaining the venue gardens and surrounding grounds to a high standard
- Carrying out general maintenance to ensure the venue always looks exceptional for our couples and guests
Business Park
- General grounds maintenance
- Weed control and litter picking
- Clearing blocked drains
- Minor gutter repairs and other routine maintenance
- Helping maintain a clean, tidy and professional environment for our tenants
Estate Projects
- Assisting with improvement projects across the wider estate
- Supporting maintenance works within the wedding accommodation, business park and other estate facilities
- Carrying out general repairs and practical maintenance tasks as required
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous landscaping, grounds maintenance or estate maintenance experience. However, if you come from another practical trade, we would still encourage you to apply, as many skills are transferable and we are happy to provide training.
- Is practical and enjoys hands-on work.
- Can work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards.
- Has a positive attitude and is willing to get stuck in.
- Is reliable, dependable and takes pride in turning up on time, every time. Reliability is one of the most important qualities for this role. Our team rely on one another, and we need someone who is committed, trustworthy and takes responsibility for their work.
- Has a full UK driving licence.
The following would be advantageous, although not essential:
- A background in farming, landscaping, estate maintenance, groundskeeping or another skilled trade.
- Experience operating a digger or excavator.
- Telehandler or forklift experience.
