We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Bar Manager to lead our team and help continue the high standards our customers have come to expect.
This role would suit an experienced Bar Manager, but we’d also love to hear from ambitious Bar Supervisors who are ready to take the next step in their career.
The Role
As Bar Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the pub, leading by example to deliver excellent customer service while ensuring the business operates efficiently and profitably.
A key part of the role will be managing our constantly changing range of real ales and craft beers, maintaining quality, variety and availability to ensure our customers always have something new and exciting to enjoy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the pub.
- Lead, motivate and develop the bar team.
- Recruit, train and induct new team members.
- Create staff rotas that meet business needs.
- Deliver consistently outstanding customer service.
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, presentation and hygiene throughout the pub.
- Manage cellar operations, including line cleaning, stock rotation and maintaining beer quality.
- Curate and manage our ever-rotating range of cask ales and craft beers, ensuring an exciting and varied selection is always available.
- Build relationships with breweries and suppliers to source interesting and high-quality beers.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders and minimise wastage.
- Carry out regular stock takes and investigate any discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations and food hygiene requirements where applicable.
- Handle cashing up, banking and end-of-day procedures.
- Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
- Deal professionally with customer feedback and resolve issues promptly.
- Work closely with the owners to help shape the future direction of the business.
About You
You’ll be someone who enjoys creating a welcoming atmosphere and takes genuine pride in delivering an excellent pub experience.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Previous experience in a management or supervisory role within hospitality.
- An understanding of the importance of real ale to our business; you don’t have to be an expert, just willing to learn.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Confidence in managing stock, ordering and cellar operations.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to lead from the front.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Personal Licence (desirable but not essential).
- Cellar management experience (preferred, although training can be provided for the right candidate).
