Full job description

We are recruiting for an experienced Food technologist to join a successful food manufacturing company based in Coventry.

Day-to-day functions of the food technologist will be a member of the technical department by ensuring compliance with the company’s Food Safety, HACCP, Quality, GMP, and H&S procedures

· Developing new concepts, refreshing and optimising existing products following the development Gate Process

· Managing projects, following the established procedure within the deadlines and launch plans defined by the customers.

· Responsible for the organisation of trials, shelf-life, samples, and industrial validations for all products.

· Working in partnership with the Commercial, Category, sourcing production and technical Process teams in all NPD projects

· Working with Factory for feasibility of new products within the manufacturing processes

· Following products after launching monitoring the post launch review procedure

· Ensuring all deadlines are met in line with the launch process and critical paths

· Ensuring all product files are maintained in well-organised fashion throughout launch process

Active Participation in interparty audits and if required ensure all appropriate actions are completed within the time scale
GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) - support site Manufacturing team in ensuring compliance to appropriate GMPs for the site by reviewing, making recommendations and implementing appropriate changes.
Factory standards - coordination of activities to enable compliance to agreed standards for pest management & schedules and activities. Direct appropriate action through service providers
Ensure all relevant documentation and relevant site-specific systems are updated and changes communicated in a timely and effective manner

Degree level (or equivalent) qualifications in a food science discipline and have at least 3 years’ relevant experience within a food industry environment - you must be able to demonstrate your knowledge and learning. You should have good analytical thinking skills, the ability to prioritise, good IT literacy, attention to detail and be able to work in a logical and methodical manner. Qualifications including auditing, HACCP and Food Hygiene are highly desirable.
