About the Role
MJV Solicitors are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Litigation Assistant to join our Housing Disrepair Department.
This is a predominantly administrative role designed to support our litigation team with the significant amount of preparation and administration required before claims can be issued at court.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring cases are progressed efficiently by obtaining outstanding information, preparing issuing documentation, liaising with clients and third parties, and maintaining accurate case records.
This role would suit an experienced administrator who enjoys working within a structured, process-driven environment. Whilst previous legal experience is desirable, it is not essential, and no legal qualifications are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Chasing outstanding information and documentation required to enable claims to be issued.
- Progressing and monitoring issuing requirements on Housing Disrepair files.
- Obtaining client approval of Particulars of Claim and Schedules of Special Damages prepared by the litigation team.
- Arranging translations of legal documents where required.
- Obtaining signed court documents from clients via DocuSign or by post.
- Preparing Help with Fees applications.
- Preparing N1 Claim Forms and N251 Notices of Funding.
- Compiling and preparing court issuing bundles.
- Updating and maintaining Proclaim case management records.
- Notifying After the Event (ATE) insurers when claims are issued.
- Identifying and reporting any issues to the supervising solicitor, including:
> Client vulnerabilities.
> Translation requirements.
> Delays caused by clients or third parties.
> Any concerns which may impact progression of the claim.
- Assisting with similar administrative processes on breach of settlement claims as the role develops.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Have strong attention to detail.
- Be comfortable managing a high-volume workload.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be confident communicating with clients and third parties.
- Be able to prioritise tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Be capable of working independently whilst also supporting a wider team.
Desirable Experience
- Previous legal administration experience.
- Experience within litigation or civil litigation environments.
- Experience using Proclaim or another case management system.
- Experience working with vulnerable clients or requiring translation services.
