Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Glazier / Window Restoration Installer to remove existing single glazing from traditional wooden windows and doors and replace it with modern double-glazed units as part of a property refurbishment project.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with timber windows, glazing installation, and refurbishment work, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship (fixed term contract, work can be done on weekends). Experience working on period or older properties would be highly advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Carefully remove existing single-glazed glass panes from wooden windows and doors without damaging surrounding frames
- Prepare, repair, and adjust timber window frames where required prior to installation
- Measure, fit, and install double-glazed sealed units accurately and securely
- Replace glazing beads, putty, seals, and associated window components to a high standard
- Carry out minor carpentry repairs to wooden frames, sashes, and window surrounds
- Ensure all installations are weatherproof, secure, and energy efficient
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during installation works
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
- Collaborate with other trades and site personnel to ensure project timelines are met
- Identify and report any additional repairs or defects discovered during works
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Glazier, Window Installer, or in timber window refurbishment
- Experience working with wooden sash windows, casement windows, or traditional timber frames
- Knowledge of double glazing installation methods and glazing regulations
- Competence using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Basic carpentry skills for frame preparation and repair work
- Ability to measure accurately and interpret technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Commitment to health and safety standards on-site
