Lead the delivery of high-end residential garden projects
Refined Landscapes is looking for an exceptional Landscape Project Manager to help lead the delivery of premium, design-led garden builds across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas.
This is a senior role for someone who knows how to run sites properly, manage teams, protect quality, communicate with high-value clients and keep complex projects moving.
We are not looking for someone who simply “checks in on jobs”.
We are looking for a serious operator. Someone who can take beautifully designed gardens and make sure they are delivered on site with precision, pride and control.
About Refined Landscapes
Refined Landscapes is a premium, design-led landscaping company based in Hitchin along with our sister company, Hertfordshire Drives & Landscapes. We design and build detailed, high-quality residential gardens for clients who care about craftsmanship, long-term quality and the finished experience.
Our projects include complex hard landscaping, planting, terraces, outdoor living spaces, lighting, water features, wellness areas and full garden transformations.
We are growing quickly, raising standards across the business and building a team capable of delivering some of the best residential landscaping projects in the region.
For the right person, this is a chance to step into a key leadership role in a company with real ambition.
The role
As Landscape Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple landscaping projects from pre-start through to completion.
You will work closely with the directors, designers, estimator, foremen, site teams, subcontractors and clients to make sure each project is properly planned, clearly communicated and delivered to the Refined Landscapes standard.
This role is part project management, part operations, part team leadership and part client care.
You will need to be commercially aware, technically strong, highly organised and confident dealing with people at every level.
What you will be responsible for
Project delivery
- Planning and coordinating multiple live landscaping projects
- Managing programmes, schedules, materials, machinery and labour
- Making sure each site is properly set up before work begins
- Overseeing progress, quality, safety and productivity across sites
- Keeping projects moving without allowing standards to drop
- Solving problems quickly and calmly when site conditions change
- Making sure finished work matches the design intent and specification
- Managing snagging, handover and final project completion
Team leadership
- Supporting, managing and motivating foremen and site teams
- Setting clear expectations for workmanship, pace, cleanliness and conduct
- Holding teams accountable without creating unnecessary drama
- Spotting training needs and helping people improve
- Protecting a positive, professional and high-performance site culture
- Making sure teams understand what “good” looks like before work starts
Client communication
- Representing Refined Landscapes professionally on premium residential sites
- Keeping clients informed with clear, calm and timely communication
- Managing expectations around progress, changes, decisions and disruption
- Handling issues before they become bigger problems
- Building trust through organisation, honesty and attention to detail
Quality control
- Checking workmanship against drawings, specifications and RL standards
- Reviewing key details such as levels, falls, paving, walls, steps, drainage, junctions and finishes
- Making sure the site team understands critical details and non-negotiables
- Working with designers to protect the design intent on site
- Driving a culture where quality is built in, not corrected at the end
Health and safety
- Making sure sites are safe, tidy and professionally run
- Overseeing RAMS, COSHH and site documentation
- Carrying out site checks and supporting safe working practices
- Ensuring plant, tools, vehicles and machinery are used and maintained correctly
- Recording and escalating accidents, incidents or concerns where required
Commercial control
- Supporting estimating and project planning where needed
- Monitoring labour, materials, variations and site efficiency
- Identifying cost risks early
- Helping protect margin without compromising quality
- Supporting clear communication around extras, changes and client decisions

We are looking for a highly experienced landscaping or construction professional who can take ownership, lead people and raise standards.
You should have:
- Proven experience managing landscaping, garden build, external works or construction projects
- Strong knowledge of hard landscaping and external works
- A good understanding of paving, walls, drainage, levels, decking, fencing, groundwork and finishes
- Experience managing multiple sites or teams
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to get the best from people
- Excellent organisation and planning ability
- Strong communication skills with clients, team members and subcontractors
A practical, solutions-focused approach
- Commercial awareness and the ability to understand cost, time and productivity
Confidence reading drawings, specifications and project information
- Good computer literacy, including Word, Excel and general admin/project systems
- A full UK driving licenceExperience with premium residential projects would be a major advantage.
The person who will thrive here
This role would suit someone who is already operating at a high level and wants a bigger stage.
You may currently be a Landscape Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Installations Manager, Project Manager, Senior Foreman or Operations Lead who knows they can run high-quality projects and wants to be part of a company with ambition.
You will probably be the sort of person who:
Notices the details others miss
Gets frustrated by poor planning, messy sites and vague communication
Can lead a team without shouting
Takes pride in finishing work properly
Understands that premium clients need confidence, not excuses
Can balance quality, pace, safety and commercial reality
Wants responsibility, not micromanagement
Enjoys building systems, standards and better ways of working
We are interested in high performers. People who think ahead, take ownership and make the people around them better.
What we offer
- £220–£260 per day, depending on experience and capability
- Company vehicle provided for work use
- High-end residential projects with genuine variety
- A strong pipeline of design-led garden builds
