Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on hydraulic rams and components
- Strip down, inspect, refurbish, and reassemble hydraulic cylinders
- Test completed rams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation
- Operate Colchester lathes
- Liaise with customers regarding job requirements and quote accordingly
- Manage stock and order as and when required, looking for the best price where possible
- Organise and manage all outsourced work
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised work area at all times
- Follow all company health & safety procedures and safe working practices
- Use tools and equipment correctly and report any faults or hazards
- Communicate with colleagues and customers regarding job requirements
Skills & Experience
- Experience repairing and refurbishing hydraulic rams/cylinders is prefferred
- Ability to diagnose faults, strip, inspect, and reassemble components
- Experience operating manual lathes (e.g. Colchester)
- Ability to test components to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Experience with stock control and ordering parts is ideal, but not a necessity
Knowledge
- Good understanding of workshop practices is essential, with a understanding of hydraulics being preferred
- Awareness of health & safety requirements
Communication Skills
- Able to liaise with customers to understand requirements and provide quotes
- Good teamwork and clear communication with colleagues
Organisation
- Able to manage workload, outsourced work, and maintain accurate stock levels
- Keeps work area clean, tidy, and organised
- Able to work independently

Desirable
- Engineering qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Experience in a hydraulic repair environment
