Job Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Volunteer Youth Support Workers to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. In this role, you will provide mentorship, guidance, and support to youth in various community programs. Your energy and dedication will help foster a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where young individuals can thrive. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in youth work while positively impacting the community.

Duties

Build trusting relationships with young people through active listening and engaging conversations
Support youth in participating in educational, recreational, and social activities
Assist with planning and facilitating group sessions focused on personal development and life skills
Provide mentorship and encouragement to help youth set and achieve their goals
Collaborate with staff and caregivers to ensure a safe and supportive environment
Observe and report on youth progress, behavior, and any concerns to supervisors
Promote inclusivity and respect among participants, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all

Skills

Experience working with children or adolescents in educational or community settings
Strong teaching abilities to effectively communicate concepts and motivate young people
Proven mentoring skills with a genuine passion for supporting youth development
Knowledge of youth work principles, including trauma-informed care and positive reinforcement techniques
Familiarity with special education needs and strategies for inclusive engagement
Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with diverse groups of young individuals
Ability to remain patient, energetic, and proactive in dynamic environments
