Welder Fabricator (Sheet Metal / Thin Gauge)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Welder Fabricator to join a well-established sheet metal fabrication business in Luton. The successful candidate will have proven experience working with thin gauge sheet metal and be highly skilled in both MIG and TIG welding. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and growing manufacturing environment producing high-quality fabricated components for a wide range of industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld sheet metal components to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on thin gauge materials.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication instructions.
- Assemble fabricated parts and sub-assemblies to required tolerances.
- Carry out grinding, finishing, and fettling operations as required.
- Ensure all work is completed to customer specifications and quality standards.
- Inspect finished products and identify any defects or non-conformances.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work area.
- Work effectively as part of a fabrication and production team to meet deadlines.
RequirementsEssential
- Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator within a sheet metal fabrication environment.
- Strong experience working with thin gauge sheet metal.
- Competent in both MIG and TIG welding.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience fabricating and assembling components from technical specifications.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety procedures.
Desirable
- Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium.
- Previous experience within a subcontract sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- Relevant welding or fabrication qualifications.
- Experience with spot welding and other sheet metal fabrication processes.
