Full job description

Are you a finance professional looking for a broad-ranging role that also creates social value? We are looking for a Management Accountant who is able to support a range of social enterprises and charities with their financial management needs.

The Management Accountant’s role as part of the Adding Value Finance Team is to develop strong relationships within the finance function and with Client budget-holders.

Supporting the Finance Business Partner with the production of accurate and timely management accounts for a portfolio of clients, providing business information that satisfies Client reporting requirements and enables effective understanding of the organisation’s financial and operational performance.

The Role

This opportunity is offered as a four month temporary contract to cover for planned absences in the team. However, due to our track record of continuous growth, there is a real possibility that the role could become permanent.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the Finance Business Partner with the preparation of monthly management accounts.

o Running the month-end close process

o Posting of payroll journals

o Preparing all accruals and prepayments, identifying and correcting anomalies.

o Support with complex deferred income on large grants/restricted projects

o Maintain the fixed asset register and post depreciation accruals

o Production of the standard management accounts pack: Data download from (Xero/Sage/QB), Ensure all control checks are complete, Variance analysis – comparing actuals to budget and providing succinct explanations.

o Attend monthly budget-holder meetings with/or on behalf of the Finance Business Partner.

o Take responsibility for all balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure all balance sheet balances agree with relevant schedules: Control accounts relating to till sales reconciliations; Accruals/prepayments and deferred income; Fixed Asset Register; PAYE & Wage Control accounts; Complete HMRC PAYE return, validate against Government Gateway; Pension reporting/submission; InterCompany

Work alongside the book-keepers, ensuring the following are completed in an accurate and timely manner:

o Posting of Supplier Invoices

o Raising Sales Ledger Invoices

o Completion of bank reconciliation

o Completion of Purchasing Card and Credit Card reconciliations

o Review and approval of supplier payments

Cashflow forecasts - work with the Finance Business Partner to prepare cashflow forecasts.

Profit & Loss Forecasts - Support the Finance Business Partner in the production of income and expenditure forecasting.

Ad-hoc reporting- produce ad-hoc analysis when required.

Annual Budget Process – Support the Finance Business Partner in the production and co-ordination of the annual budget process. Upload and review templates for budgets and forecasts (if applicable)

Annual Audit Process: assist the Finance Business Partner to provide the auditors with any supporting documentation they may require.

Systems/Process improvement: Support the team in the standardisation of finance and book keeping tasks/processes ensuring best practice is implemented.

Involvement in Client projects to improve organisational efficiencies and/or Client back office processes.

Key Skills

Key skills and competencies required for the role:

· Have excellent communication skills.

· Ability to build relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.

· Be part qualified, ideally be studying towards a professional accounting qualification and or proven experience in management accounting environment

· Be proficient in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel to an intermediate standard.

· Strong organisation and time management skills.

· Ability to analyse large volumes of data.

· Team Player.
