University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is a large, friendly Level 3 unit providing care for approximately 3600 women a year. We are looking for enthusiastic team members to promote safe and compassionate care to our maternity service users and their families. Successful applicants will need to have been recently qualified/about to qualify or are presently on a preceptorship programme and wishing to transfer areas to complete their preceptorship programme.
We offer a 12 month rotational preceptorship programme, working within the inpatient and outpatient areas to support the consolidation of your training. You will be given dedicated teaching sessions and offered regular PMA sessions to support with your ongoing professional development requirements. We actively support you to develop and enhance your skills to maximise your potential in all aspects of midwifery.

Organising the midwifery care within your sphere of practice ensuring good lines of communication between midwifery and medical staff and other services/agencies, to ensure good patient care.
Deliver a high standard of patient care by initiating and coordinating the assessment, planning and evaluating of patient care.
To diagnose, prescribe and treat under your own cognisance with the autonomy of midwifery practice.
Ensure effective and efficient use of all available resources.
Be familiar with the risk management strategy and to work within the guidance of policies and procedures taking all actions to minimise risk.
Demonstrate an awareness of and compliance with health and safety regulations/procedures that apply to staff, patients and visitors within the Trust premises. Report any deficiencies in equipment, furnishing or matters of hygiene.
Continually reflect on clinical practice in order to deliver and maintain a high standard of patient care.
Report clinical/professional concerns to your line manager.
Be familiar with the Child Protection Policies and procedures and act in accordance with them.
Participate in clinical professional development and any other developmental activities.
