We are seeking a motivated and organised Catering Commercial Supervisor to join the Catering Team at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, supporting the delivery of high quality catering services for patients, staff and visitors.
Working closely with the Catering Operations Manager, the role provides commercial, financial and administrative support across catering services. Responsibilities include monitoring expenditure, processing purchase orders and invoices, maintaining stock control systems, analysing sales data, and supporting retail, vending and service development initiatives.
The post holder will contribute to menu planning and product development, ensure menus are accurately costed, and help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and increase income. The role also supports food safety, governance and compliance requirements, including HACCP documentation.
This role is ideal for someone with catering, hospitality or commercial experience, strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in service improvement within the NHS.

Provide day to day commercial, financial and administrative support to Catering Services.

Support monitoring of sales performance, income, expenditure and stock control.

Process purchase orders, invoices and financial documentation accurately.

Maintain stock control systems to ensure appropriate levels and minimal waste.

Analyse and report sales data to support menu planning and service improvement.

Support commercial initiatives, food safety compliance (including HACCP), audits and continuous improvement activities.

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Catering, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related subject, or equivalent level of relevant experience
Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification (or willingness to work towards)
Qualification or training in stock control, procurement, finance or business/commercial management
HACCP training or experience working within food safety management systems
Experience working in a catering, hospitality, retail or commercial environment
Experience of administrative and financial processes, including ordering, invoices or stock control
Experience of working with data, records or reports
Ability to work independently, manage workload and meet deadlines
Experience within an NHS or large public sector organisation
Experience supporting commercial or retail catering services
Experience of using stock control or financial systems
