As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an ambitious and technically minded Assistant Technical Manager to support the development of both Quest Medical and Quest Power's technical programmes.
The Role
As Assistant Technical Manager, you will support the delivery of technical projects across the business, combining hands-on engineering, remote diagnostics, technical analysis, and operational support.
Working closely with the Technical Manager, you will play an important role in the development of remote monitoring technologies, sustainable power solutions, and engineering systems that support our customers nationwide.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer looking to broaden their technical expertise while contributing to innovative projects within a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery and development of remote diagnostics and technical programmes
- Assist with research, development, testing, and troubleshooting of remote monitoring and communication systems
- Maintain technical documentation, electrical schematics, and system records
- Analyse diagnostic, operational, and power data to improve performance and support decision-making
- Support the growth and development of the Quest Power division
- Assist with electrical and mechanical design activities, including system layouts and documentation
- Coordinate servicing, repairs, deliveries, and contractor activities
- Manage technical equipment stock and inventory
- Support the development of technical procedures, systems, and standards
- Respond to technical issues and provide operational support as required
- Ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards, and company procedures
- Support additional projects and initiatives as directed by the Technical Manager and Senior Management Team
Essential:
- Recognised qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of electrical principles and engineering fundamentals
- Experience with remote monitoring systems and communication system integration
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
- Ability to analyse and interpret technical and energy-related data
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Willingness to travel nationally and respond to operational requirements when necessary
Desirable:
- Experience within the energy, power generation, or renewable energy sectors
- Knowledge of conventional and renewable power systems
- Electrical testing experience
- Knowledge of earthing systems
- Experience with energy management systems
- Solar PV experience

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 10-hour shifts with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break
- Standard working hours: 07:00 – 17:00
- Flexibility may be required to meet operational demands
- Hybrid working arrangement combining remote work and national travel
