Teaching Assistant / Meal Time Assistant – Loddiswell Primary School

Salary Grade: Teaching Asssistant Grade B/C - Meal Time Assistant Grade A

Job Term Fixed Term

Appointment Type Full time 9.00am – 3.30pm

Hours 30 Hours per week, Term Time Only

Closing Date 17th June 2026

Interview Date TBC

Start Date September 2026

The Governors of the South Hams Federation are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant/Meal Time Assistant on a fixed term contract to work with a child with SEND needs to start in September 2026 at Loddiswell Primary School.

This role will involve working as part of our established team under the guidance of the Head of School whilst following the new Early Years framework.

· Wish to support the inclusive ethos of our Federation

· Can demonstrate commitment to supporting children to achieve independence

· Will be willing to implement embedded strategies which support behavioural, social and emotional development

· Can communicate effectively

Duties and Responsibilities

· Contribute to the planning and operation of a programme of activities suitable to the needs of the child.

· Contribute to child’s records and learning journeys

· Support all staff and engage in a good staff team

· To be flexible within the working practices of the school. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the preschool e.g. cleaning of equipment

· Work alongside the manager, and staff team and outside agencies to ensure that the aims and objectives of the class are met

· Look upon the school as a “whole”. Where can your help be most utilised, being constantly aware of the needs of the children.

· To respect the confidentiality of information received

· To ensure the school offers a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development

· To be aware of the high profile of the school and to uphold its standards at all times
