Job title: Assistant Psychologist

Location: Dartford and Ilford

Salary: £28,000 pro rata

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract( 12 months) Part-time (2 days per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Hours: 9.30am-5pm

About Us:

We are an established and growing organisation specialising in providing residential care and education for children and young people with a range of complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs, often rooted in early trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Our aim is to support healing, growth and resilience through therapeutic care and evidence-based psychological support.

The Role:

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of psychological assessments and interventions under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

This role requires the successful candidate to be available to travel to our service locations in Ilford and Dartford. We are ideally looking for someone who is available two days per week—Tuesdays and Thursdays—from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

· Deliver low-intensity or structured therapeutic interventions to children, under the regular supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist

· Support the development and implementation of therapeutic plans and interventions

· Assist with psychological assessments, data collection and analysis

· Engage with children in a compassionate and trauma-informed manner

· Contribute to care planning and team meetings, offering a psychological perspective

· Work collaboratively with the care team, local authorities and other appropriate agencies

· Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with professional standards

· Participate in training and engage in regular clinical supervision with our qualified Clinical Psychologist

About You We are looking for someone who is passionate about child psychology and trauma-informed care. You’ll need to be resilient, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships with children with a range of emotional behavioural difficulties, many of whom have experienced significant adversity.

Essential:

· A degree in Psychology (minimum 2:1, eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the BPS)

· Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a care, educational, or clinical setting

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

· Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Desirable:

Knowledge of trauma, attachment theory, and neurodevelopment
Experience using psychological assessments and report writing
Familiarity with positive behaviour support or therapeutic models
