About Acorn Cottage

Acorn Cottage is a beautiful 50-place, Ofsted Outstanding day nursery in Horley, Surrey, caring for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Part of the Cranbrook Nurseries family, we are proud of the reputation we've built for high-quality, nurturing care and education.

Our setting boasts a wonderful outdoor area that allows for free-flow play, giving children the opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy outdoor activities throughout the day. From messy play and sensory exploration to outdoor adventures and imaginative play, our children learn through hands-on experiences and discovery in a warm, welcoming environment where they feel safe, valued, and empowered to explore the world around them.

We focus on holistic development and child-led learning, providing the firm foundations children need to develop essential life skills, take appropriate risks, and grow in confidence.

The Role

As a Nursery Practitioner at Acorn Cottage, you'll be a key part of our dedicated team, helping to deliver the high-quality care and education that earned us our Outstanding rating.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Planning and delivering engaging, child-led activities in line with the EYFS framework
Acting as a Key Person to a group of children, observing and tracking their development
Building warm, trusting relationships with children and their families to create a true home-from-home experience
Embracing outdoor and nature-based learning as part of everyday practice
Maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, health, and safety
Contributing positively to our friendly, supportive team and the smooth daily running of the nursery

What We're Looking For

Essential:

A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare (or equivalent)
A genuine passion for working with young children
A strong understanding of the EYFS framework
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
The right to work in the UK

Desirable:

A passion for outdoor learning and connecting children with nature
Previous experience in a nursery or early years setting
Paediatric first aid certificate
Safeguarding training
Experience with online learning journals (e.g. Tapestry, Famly)
